Long Term Care - Trends in Technology

Webcast

If you're like many communities, getting the information you need to drive clinical, financial and operating improvements is a constant challenge.  Good news.advances in technology are helping communities drive quality up, better manage risk, get rid of paperwork, and get reimbursed for the dollars they deserve for all the care they deliver.  TRENDS IN TECHNOLOGY will give communities a look at the hottest developments around the country and what we can do to drive change and a return on investments here at home.  This presentation will examine upcoming Medicare and Medicaid payment mandates that will affect your decisions on how to collect and track resident information.  Speakers will be demonstrating some of this new technology.

  Objectives

Upon completion of this 2 hour course, participants will be able to:

1) Define and differentiate between EHR, EMR, PHR.   
2) List three ways simple sensor technologies (bed, light, wet, pharmacy dispensers, etc.) can reduce risk and address QI/QMs.
3) Name ten dire consequences of inaccurate MDS documentation
4) Describe options for point-of-care and how each impacts QI/QMs

• Cutting through the clutter in Nursing Informatics: facts, fiction, and the impact on federal legislation
• Trends in direct intervention:  how small sensors can move mountains
• Trends in point-of-care: options, tradeoffs, and deeper dive into the latest voice technology
• Top questions you must ask any technology provider - to get your money's worth

Refunds & Substitutions 

Cancellations or transfers MUST be written and submitted to EIA no later than 48 hours prior to the seminar.  No refunds, credits, or transfers will be issued after this time.  A fee of $15 will be charged for cancellations. 

Substitutions may be made at any time for persons unable to attend. No refunds will be given to individuals who fail to log in and view the seminar. A fee of $15 will be charged for all returned checks.


  CEUs

Administrators: 2 hours NAB credit
Nurses: 2 contact hours
Social Workers: 0.2 CEUs

Immediately after the completion of the webcast you will be able to complete an evaluation and then print your certificate for CEUs.

Texas Association of Homes and Services for the Aging and Educational Institute on Aging is approved as a provider of continuing nursing education by the Texas Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. 
This activity meets Type 1 criteria for mandatory continuing education requirements toward relicensure as established by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas.
