Welcome to LeadingAge Texas!   For 52 years we were known as the Texas Association of Homes and Services for the Aging, serving not-for-profit providers of long term care services and supports, housing for the elderly, and other community based services for elderly Texans.   Our basic mission has not changed - we are here to advocate for aging services, provide top-notch education, provide opportunities for networking among not-for-profits in aging services, and provide information and services to advance the cause of our members.

Our new name also aligns us closer with our national counterpart LeadingAge.   While LeadingAge Texas advocates within the state of Texas, LeadingAge advocates in our nation's capital.   When you are members of LeadingAge Texas, you are also members of LeadingAge at the national level.

LeadingAge Texas is a member-driven organization, with leadership elected by peers from across Texas. The association is led by a Board of Directors, including executive committee officers; network representatives who are responsible for organizing network meetings; and public policy congress delegates, who represent LeadingAge Texas at our national association. Committees, peer groups and task forces from volunteer members around the state help to develop and oversee governing policies and positions.

As we enter this new chapter in our history as LeadingAge Texas, I ask two things - First and foremost, get involved with your association.  There are numerous opportunities for involvement including task forces, committees, peer groups, etc.  At the very least, meet your peers at conferences, seminars, network meetings and most notably, our annual meeting (May 20-23, 2012 in Dallas).  Second, if you know of any not-for-profit providers of services and supports for elderly Texans who are not currently members of LeadingAge Texas, let us know so we can contact them about membership.    It is only through a united voice of advocacy for not-for-profit aging services providers that we can grow stronger and better serve seniors across Texas.
Welcome to LeadingAge Texas!

Sincerely,
George Linial, CAE, CASP
President & CEO, LeadingAge Texas
