Continuing Education Credits
All continuing education credits are sponsored through TAHSA's educational subsidiary, the Educational Institute on Aging (EIA). Credentialing bodies and licensing boards have the final authority on the acceptance of individual courses.
Activity Professionals
This program has been approved for 16 total clock hours of continuing education by the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals. Credit is offered for the Pre-Conference (6 clock hours), Opening Session (1 clock hour), Closing Session (1 clock hour), and breakout sessions (2 clock hours each; look for the "AD" designation).
Administrators
This educational offering has been reviewed by the National Continuing Education Review Service (NCERS) of the National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB) and approved for 72.00 clock hours and 16.00 participant hours. Credit is offered for the Pre-Conference (6 hours), Opening Session (1 hour), Closing Session (1 hour), and all breakout sessions (2 hours each). Ethics hours are offered for breakout sessions with the "E" designation.
Assisted Living Managers
Attending sessions relevant to assisted living can be used for the annual 12-hour continuing education requirement enforced by the state of Texas. Up to 16 hours may be earned at the conference. Credit is offered for the Pre-Conference (6 hours), Opening Session (1 hour), Closing Session (1 hour), and all breakout sessions (2 hours each).
Certified Aging Services Professionals (CASP)
Graduates of the Certified Aging Services Professional (CASP) Program may use continuing education credits earned at this meeting toward their CASP recertification.
Certified Dietary Managers
This program has been approved for 16.0 general clock hours and 2.0 food show hours through the Certifying Board for Dietary Managers. Please be sure to have your CBDM certification number and to sign in on the designated forms at the conference. The certification number is mandatory for clock hour approval. Credit is offered for the Pre-Conference (6 hours), Opening Session (1 hour), Closing Session (1 hour), and breakout sessions (2 hours each; look for the "DS" designation).
Certified Marketing Professionals
Attending sessions that advance the skills and knowledge of Certified Marketing Professionals (CMP) at the conference can be used toward the continuing education credit requirements for renewal of your certification. Look for the "M" designation.
Chefs
This program is an American Culinary Federation Chef Approved CEH program. 8 continuing education hours (CEHs) are available. Look for the "DS" designation.
Human Resources Professionals
This program has been approved for a total of 8.00 (General) recertification credit hours toward PHR, SPHR and GPHR recertification through the HR Certification Institute. Please be sure to note the program ID number on your recertification application form. For more information about certification or recertification, please visit the HR Certification Institute website at www.hrci.org. Credit is offered for selected breakout sessions (2.00 credit hours each; look for the "HR" designation).
Nurses
Educational Institute on Aging (EIA) is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Texas Nurses Association (TNA), an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. This activity provides 14 total contact hours. Credit is offered for the Pre-Conference (6 contact hours) and selected breakout sessions (2 contact hours each; look for the "N" designation).
Registered Dietitians
This program has been approved for 16 total CPE hours through the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Credit is offered for the Pre-Conference (6 hours), Opening Session (1 hour), Closing Session (1 hour), and breakout sessions (2 hours each; look for the "DS" designation).
Social Workers
EIA is an approved CE provider by the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners, approval #2485. 1.6 total CE's can be acquired at the conference. Credit is offered for the Pre-Conference (.6 CE's), Opening Session (.1 CE), Closing Session (.1 CE), and breakout sessions (.2 CE's each; look for the "SW" designation). Ethics hours are offered for breakout sessions 1C and 4C.
Other Professional Groups
All other professionals are encouraged to submit detailed information on the sessions attended along with a copy of your Certificate of Attendance to your own professional organization for consideration of continuing education credit. Due to the large number of credentialing bodies and professional organizations, it is impossible for EIA to obtain prior approval of conference programs for each of them.
